Marian Fragoso is a Writer, Director, Cinematographer from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico based in New York City, USA.
They originally attended the University of Oregon for Journalism but after taking a risk and changing career paths, they graduated from the New York Film Academy with a BFA in Filmmaking.
In 2021, they became part of the inaugural student cohort of No Evil Eye Cinema’s alternative film school Film Futura. They are a Creative Futures Collective x Soho House 2023 Mentee. Their work has screened in online film festivals such as the Luna Collective Digital Film Festival, and in theaters such as the Village East by Angelika and Anthology Film Archives.
Their love for indie cinema has inspired them to aim towards creating films that push the narratives of unique individuals that are often untold or go unnoticed - intentionally centering Queer, fat, BiPoC experiences. They aspire to continuously work on films that reflect their communities with joy rather than experiencing trauma.
Marian has directed several original micro-budget short films and are currently in post-production for Fruits and Veggies that Help Your Projections, a short personal film about generational fatphobia in a Latine household.
