Marian Fragoso is a Writer, Director, Cinematographer from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, based in New York City, USA.
They originally attended the University of Oregon for Journalism but after taking a risk and changing career paths, they graduated from the New York Film Academy with a BFA in Filmmaking.
As a real lover and constant dreamer, they use film as a way to imagine their communities as well-rounded individuals who can live beyond the lens of an oppressive system. They love slice-of-life films and choose to prioritize authenticity and tenderness over trauma.
In 2021, they became part of the inaugural student cohort of No Evil Eye Cinema’s alternative film school Film Futura. They are a Creative Futures Collective x Soho House 2023 Mentee. As a director, their work has screened in film festivals across the US and Mexico. As a cinematographer, they have experience shooting digitally and in celluloid (8mm, 16mm and 35mm).
Marian is currently finishing a film festival circuit for Fruits and Veggies that Help Your Projections, a short personal film about generational fatphobia in a Latine household.
